The NAMA Industry Awards are a prestigious honor recognizing leaders in the industry. The awards are presented to individuals and companies that best exemplify consistent advancement of the convenience services industry.

The awards are presented annually at The NAMA Show and CTW. Check out the Member Spotlight page to learn about past winners.

Coffee Legend of the Year

The Coffee Legend of the Year is presented to a member with at least ten years of service to the coffee industry. This individual is seen as a pioneer, an innovator, a leader, and much more! Coffee Legends are passionate about coffee and willing to share that passion and education to help others succeed. The award winner has distinguished participation in the coffee industry, including but not limited to, coffee service operators, coffee roasters, manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, brokers, and educators.

Eligibility Criteria

A NAMA Coffee Legend is a pioneer, an innovator, a leader, and a visionary. They are passionate about coffee and are willing to share that passion to educate and help others succeed.

  • A nominee must have a minimum of 10 years of service to the coffee industry.
  • The nominee must be readily recognized as a pioneer or innovator in the coffee industry.
  • The nominee must have been recognized by his or her peers in the past for exemplary business practices, for being active in local charities or civic projects, or have received recognition for exemplary support of the coffee industry.
  • The nominee must have been or currently is actively involved in NAMA, State Councils, and other related industry groups.
  • The nominee will have contributed to the promotion of the coffee service industry through trade magazine articles, leading education workshops, published papers, etc.
  • Distinguished participation in the coffee industry includes but is not limited to coffee service operators, coffee roasters, manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, brokers, and educators.
  • The nominee is respected within the industry due to her or his integrity, raising the level of professionalism, helping others succeed, and/or providing educational opportunities.
  • Must be a NAMA member in good standing at the time of nomination or have been active in the industry for at least one year prior to the nomination date, if retired.

Nomination Process

The process for nominating a candidate is below:

  • The nominator will submit a nomination form, and include the nominees name, email address, and reason why the nominee deserves the award, and recommended award.
  • No company or individual may submit more than one nomination for the same award; if multiple nominations for the same award or individual submitted, only the first nomination will be considered.
  • A nominee may be considered if a company or individual retires or closes from the industry within one year of the nomination announcement.
  • Each individual or company will be listed in the awards materials exactly as submitted on the ballot.
    • No modifications will be made to the ballot or shall be permitted. If changes are needed, they will be vetted by the CEO or COO for approval.

Industry Person of the Year

Industry Person of the Year recognizes an individual who has consistently exemplified the highest standards of professional excellence and achieved business success throughout his or her career in the convenience services industry. Candidates have been an inspiration and thought leader to others throughout their career.

Operator of the Year

Operator of the Year is presented to a company that best exemplifies consistent advancement of the convenience services industry. Candidates must be innovative and possess a willingness to expand conventional business practices.

Allied Member of the Year

Allied Member of the Year, presented to a non-operator member, recognizes a company who has exhibited the highest level of integrity, dedication, and leadership to convenience services. Candidates must provide innovative leadership, demonstrate responsiveness to the needs of the industry through education and best practices, and offer products and services that help operators grow their businesses.
