The State of Illinois Issues Vending Day Proclamation —
Industry Recognition Continues

CHICAGO — March 14, 2019 — Today, NAMA announced continued recognition for the industry, as the State of Illinois offered a formal proclamation in honor of National Vending Day.

“We are thankful to the elected leaders of Illinois for recognizing the convenience services industry,” said Eric Dell, Senior Vice President of External Affairs for NAMA. “The vending and convenience services industry employs nearly 7,000 residents and generics economic output of over $1.2 Billion in the State of Illinois and we agree this is worth celebrating.”

To mark this day, NAMA showcased the U.S. Convenience Services Industry — the majority of which is comprised of vending — and its total economic impact of nearly $25 billion. The industry is represented in every community across the United States through traditional vending and micro markets — unattended retail — as well as office coffee and pantry services.

The industry, providing 140,000 good paying jobs with $7.21 billion in wages, pays $3.5 billion taxes at every level of government. From manufacturing to small-drop distribution, the industry meets the needs of consumers everywhere they are.

NAMA represents the $34.9 billion U.S. Convenience Services Industry. By providing advocacy, education, and research, NAMA works to promote and protect the industry’s over 160,000 hardworking employees. Through traditional vending and micro markets, office coffee and pantry services, product manufacturing, and small-drop distribution, convenience services meets the needs of over 40 million American consumers daily at work, home, school, and play.
