NAMA-PAC FAQs

The National Automatic Merchandising Association Political Action Committee (NAMA-PAC) is the political action committee for convenience services. NAMAPAC supports federal candidates for office that support convenience services and facilitates their engagement with NAMA members. Relying 100% on the generous, voluntary contributions of NAMA members, supporters, and partners, NAMAPAC directly supports federal candidates and political programs.

Why is NAMA-PAC important?

By supporting the campaigns of Members of Congress who are aligned with NAMA’s goals and priorities, NAMA-PAC bolsters the industry’s advocacy efforts and enhances effectiveness in Washington by developing long term partnerships and policy champions. NAMA-PAC is an important tool in the achievement of industry business objectives. NAMA’s advocacy toolbox to increase the industry’s profile, build credibility and develop long term relationships with lawmakers.

NAMA-PAC Contribution Eligibility?

The first step in the contribution process is for a NAMA member company to sign a prior authorization form. This action, required by federal election law, allows NAMA to solicit certain members of the company’s executive and management personnel. Giving NAMA-PAC a prior authorization does not obligate you or anyone in your company to make a financial commitment. It simply gives you and eligible employees in your company the opportunity to learn more about NAMA-PAC.

After signing and submitting a prior authorization form, eligible individuals from your company can contribute as much as $5,000 from their personal account to NAMA-PAC. The PAC cannot receive donations from companies, and contributions to the PAC are not tax-deductible.

Who Can Submit a Prior Authorization Form?

The primary contact from a NAMA member company should complete the NAMA-PAC Prior Authorization Form. The primary contact is defined as the representative of the corporation with whom NAMA normally conducts the association’s activities. Member companies may only approve solicitations by one trade association per calendar year. Please check with the necessary staff within your organization – including legal counsel – to ensure your company has not already granted prior approval to another association's political action committee.

Your financial support of NAMA-PAC helps support candidates that best align with the industry’s goals and priorities. Combining NAMA’s advocacy work with PAC contributions allows NAMA to build better relationships, build up legislative champions, and keep members of Congress who support the convenience service industry in Congress. There are many competing interests in Washington, and it is important to use every avenue available to the industry to make our collective voices heard.
