NAMA Announces a Presidential Proclamation for National Vending Day — March 7

CHICAGO — March 5, 2019 — In a significant industry first, underscoring the heightened importance of the convenience services industry, NAMA announced a message from the White House recognizing National Vending Day taking place this Thursday, March 7.

“We are thankful to the White House for the message of support for National Vending Day. This inaugural celebration represents a win-win, with the industry working to together to increase awareness and build excitement in the channel,” said Carla Balakgie, president and CEO of NAMA.

According to the message: “Vending machines and other convenience services play an important role in bolstering our nation’s robust economy. From production and purchasing to manufacturing and distribution, the convenience services industry supports jobs for hardworking men and women in communities across our country.”

To mark this day, NAMA will showcase the U.S. Convenience Services Industry – the majority of which is comprised of vending – and its total economic impact of nearly $25 billion. The industry is represented in every community across the United States through traditional vending and micro markets — unattended retail — as well as office coffee and pantry services.

The industry, providing 140,000 good paying jobs with $7.21 billion in wages, pays $3.5 billion taxes at every level of government. From manufacturing to small-drop distribution, the industry meets the needs of consumers everywhere they are.

NAMA represents the $34.9 billion U.S. Convenience Services Industry. By providing advocacy, education, and research, NAMA works to promote and protect the industry’s over 160,000 hardworking employees. Through traditional vending and micro markets, office coffee and pantry services, product manufacturing, and small-drop distribution, convenience services meets the needs of over 40 million American consumers daily at work, home, school, and play.
